I am in the unique position to provide a service
to the people of America.  We are travelling
through the country and stopping for
groceries in many places and I like to eat
frozen burritos.  So, it seemed obvious to
dedicate an entire site to the rating of frozen
bean & cheese microwave burritos.  Burritos
are so quick and easy - only a minute or two in
the microwave of the RV.  Let the quest for the
perfect burrito begin......
#1.  The Wal-Mart Supercenter Burrito:  (This idea came to me on my third burrito; so the first two are a
couple back tracks).  This one was from the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Murphreesboro  TN.  They were 2
for a dollar and were pretty big.  Here are the ratings:
C/T:  1
S:  2
T:  4
I:  5  No MSG at all!
F:  3
CH:  2
Value:  5
These burritos surprised us because they were at Wal-Mart and they had no MSG in them or anything
sketchy at all.  I can't remember the name of them, but will no doubt run across them again.  I didn't
actually like these burritos, they tasted very bland with an odd consistency - probably because there
were no chemicals involved.

#2.  Patio Burrito.  I can't remember where we bought these or how much they cost.  Ratings are a little
lacking.
C/T:  4
S:  5
T:  5
I:  Unknown
F:  5
CH:  5
Value:  Unknown
The Patio burrito has by far been the best burrito we have encountered thus far.  This burrito had a red
sauce in it that actually was spicy!  That is the first time I have ever been able to say that about a burrito
in my life.  It's tortilla came out of the microwave crunchy at points and was very good.  Also, it was quite
cheesy - I may have found the perfect burrito so early in the quest  -  but alas I do not remember where I
bought it.

#3.  Tina's Spicy Bean & Cheese Burrito.  We bought these in Los Banos, CA at the Food 4 Less for 28
cents a piece.  I got 2 bean & cheese and Sarah got a chicken and a beef or some sketchy shit like that.
C/T:  4
S:  2 Very low since they advertised Spicy and there was no spice at all.
T:  4
I:  3  No MSG - lots of hydrogenated oils
F:  4
CH:  3
Value:  5  28 cents for 5 oz.!!!
These burritos tasted normal, but a few hours later my guts were rockin and reeling.  No spice to speak
off and generally very poor digestive qualities.  The first
GUTBUSTER - buyer beware.

#4.  Southwestern Trails Bean & Cheese Burrito self-proclaimed "The best in the west".  This one comes
from the Flying J in Twin Falls ID.
C/T:  5  very firm beans after micro
S:  5  another burrito with the spicy internal red sauce - not quite as good as patio - but better than norm
T:  4
I:  4  long list - but mostly natural - no MSG no Hyrogen - probably something bad that we haven't heard
ofF:  5
CH:  3  not too much cheese to speak of
Value:  2  -  2.19 for 10 oz  - 2.19 for a burrito?!
This burrito is actually quite good - it wasn't the same Flying J b&c as what was more west (which i
missed a sample of)  this one is the big 10 oz and we were surprised by it's distinct flavor - also very
safe looking ingredients - but what is a modified food starch.  I dunno man it's a 2 dollar burrito that
tastes good and fills ya up - also no gutbuster after a few hours (even with a handful of Icehouses karl).

#5.  Lynn Wilson's Quality Bean and Cheese Burrito with Green Chilles
C/T:  4
S:  4  plenty of green chille spice - living up to it's name
T:  4
I:  5 - very simple list of ingredients
F:  5  great mix with the chilles
CH:  3  - really not a lot of cheesiness going on inside here
Value:  4  2 burritos for 89 cents (5 oz)
The Lynn Wilson's Quality burrito boasts the best ingredients on it's wrapper and states they have been
making the best burrito since 1938.  I did the 2 for .89  (one with green chille and one plain) from
Albertson's in Idaho Falls.  Although this brand is by far the best burrito I have come across, it still isn't
so bad.

#6.  Lynn Wilson's Quality Bean and Cheese Burrito
C/T:  4
S:  3 - not much spice at all here
T:  4
I:  5
F:  4  - mild green chille flavor in this burrito
CH:  3  very poor on cheese
Value:  4  - 2 5 oz burrito .89
This one had the exact same list of ingredients as it's proclaimed green chille brethren - but maybe just
not as much green chille.  This was a basic bean and cheese burrito  - pretty boring actually.

#7.  Don Miguel's Bean and Three Cheese Burrito
C/T:  5
S:  3
T:  5  -  very fresh tasting tortilla
I:  5  -  all natural with a great selection of vegetable  and 3 cheeses!!
F:  5  -  great mix of cheese and peppers
CH:  5  -  very nice blend of cheese throughout the burrito
Value:  3   7 oz for 1.99   Gourmet burrito
This one breaks the tradition a little because it was not actually a frozen  burrito -- it was in the cooler,
wrapped in a paper sort of wrapper.  A very classy burrito;  and it lived up to it's expectations.  It was
lacking in spiciness,  but made up for it in flavor.  A little taxed though   poor value.

#8.  Deli Express San Luis Bean & Cheese Burrito
C/T:  3 - crunchy beans  weird reddish filling
S:  1  - nothing going on in here - these could be prepared for Burrito night at the senior's center
T:  4
I:  4  -  long list but nothing that stands out
F:  2  -  I did not enjoy eating this burrito.
CH:  2  - no cheese  but plenty of crunchy bean
Value:  3  10 oz for 1.79
This is it -  The Captain is dedicated to trying all bean & cheese burritos and I mean all.  I went into this
subject apprehensively:  Deli Express pretty much says it all.  This brand is found in gas stations all over
the place and are well known for their sandwiches as well as burrito.  I got to say they did not let me
down; this is by far the worst burrito i have had period.  I have just ate it here at the Flying J in Gillete
WY and am very much hoping we do not have another Gutbuster.

#9.  Marquez Bean & Cheese Burrito
C/T:  4 - nice mix of whole beans and refried beans
S:  2 - very low spice - just enought to gain a 2
T:  3 - Chewy tortilla
I:  4 - good
F:  4 - a flavorful burrito regardless of the poor cheese content and spice
CH:  3
Value:  5 - 5 oz for .37 cents!!!
We picked this one up at the HyVee in Rochester MN on our way to Alpine Valley.  Overall, I was pleased
with this burrito - but I'm not exactly sure why - it had poor cheese and wasn't spicy,  also it had a chewy
tortilla...   but it tasted damn good and sure fits our budget!!!

Mike's Frozen Burrito Review
The rating is on a scale of 1 to 5 (with 5 being
the best) and it splits into 7 categories:
Consistency/Texture:  How does the burrito
hold together.
Spiciness:  How spicy it is - especially if spice
is referred to on the packaging.
Tortilla:  How well the tortilla holds up after
microwaving.  Hate slimy or over chewy
tortillas.
Ingredients:  How healthy or chemical the
ingredients are.  Trying to avoid MSG and
Hydrogenated Oils.
Flavor: Obvious.  I like my burritos with cheese
melted on top of them and with hot sauce; but
this category is rating on the flavor of the
burrito alone.
Cheesiness:  How cheesy is this "Bean and
Cheese Burrito.
Value of the Burrito:  This is a basic oz to $
ratio or something - but as we are learning
cheaper is usually not the better burrito.
Watch out for the GUTBUSTER burrito.
No Bueno...   Here are the burritos I have so far.
Feel Free to aid in
the continuing
research of frozen
burritos.  Even a
dollar usually gets
2-3 burritos!!!
